Leading Integrated Steel Plant, operated by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), is one of India's largest and most complex integrated steel manufacturing facilities — producing over 7 million tonnes of steel annually. The plant employs tens of thousands of workers across operations spanning blast furnaces, coke ovens, rolling mills, and steel melting shops, each presenting unique and severe occupational hazards.

Safety training at this scale presented SAIL with a formidable challenge: how to certify thousands of workers on hazard identification, emergency response, PPE usage, and safe operating procedures — consistently, affordably, and without shutting down production lines for training drills.

An Immersive VR Safety Training & Certification Ecosystem

EDIIIE designed and deployed a fully immersive VR-based safety training and certification system tailored specifically to Leading Integrated Steel Plant's operational environment. The solution replicated key hazard zones — blast furnace areas, rolling mill floors, coke oven batteries, and electric arc furnace bays — with photorealistic accuracy, enabling workers to experience, practice, and respond to realistic safety scenarios without any physical risk.

The platform was integrated with SAIL's Learning Management System (LMS), enabling real-time progress tracking, automated certification issuance upon competency assessment completion, and a centralised safety compliance dashboard for safety officers.
