EDIIIE built an immersive VR solution for Leading Global FMCG Company that serves a dual purpose: training field sales executives on retail store SOPs, and enabling Leading Global FMCG Company's commercial teams to test planogram layouts on virtual human buyers — measuring visibility and projected sales impact before committing to physical shelf redesigns.
Leading Global FMCG Company — India Operations came to EDIIIE with two distinct but related challenges. First, their large field sales force needed consistent, scalable training on retail store SOPs — how to correctly arrange, face, and present Leading Global FMCG Company products across different retail formats (general trade, modern trade, kiosks) to maximise shelf impact and comply with retail partnership standards. Traditional onboarding relied on shadowing and verbal instruction — inconsistent, slow, and leaving significant room for error.
Second, Leading Global FMCG Company's category and commercial teams needed a way to evaluate new planogram designs before physically rebuilding shelves across hundreds of stores. Physical mockup testing was costly and slow — taking weeks and significant budget to construct, test, and dismantle. Leading Global FMCG Company needed a way to test shelf layouts on real consumer behaviour patterns before committing to expensive physical changes.
EDIIIE built a high-fidelity virtual retail store environment — a photorealistic recreation of a typical Indian modern trade outlet — that serves dual purposes. For field sales executives, it functions as an immersive SOP training simulator. For commercial and category teams, it becomes a planogram testing and buyer-behaviour lab.
The virtual store uses an AI-powered simulated buyer agent who walks through the store, browses shelves, responds to product positioning, and makes selections — generating visibility heatmaps and purchase probability scores for each planogram configuration. Leading Global FMCG Company's teams can test multiple shelf layouts in the VR environment in a single session, comparing visibility and projected sales performance before any physical work begins.
The VR solution delivered measurable value across both objectives: field execution quality improved dramatically among trained cohorts, and Leading Global FMCG Company's category teams used the planogram simulation tool to select a shelf layout that, when implemented in pilot stores, delivered a 28% uplift in measured purchase incidence compared to the previous configuration.
